I love to keep up to date with what’s happening in the cake world, but I also have an interest in home interiors and regularly receive newsletters from the Ideal Home Show which you may be pleased to know is running from Saturday 17th March - Monday 2nd April 2018.
As I looked through my latest newsletter from the Ideal Home Show, I glimpse something about a Royal Wedding Cake competition. Interest aroused, I click on it for a closer look and learn that to enter this competition, all I need to do is enter a sketch of the cake I would design for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding. “I can do that!” I think to myself. So I do. It takes me a short while to sketch some ideas and I enter…
A few days pass and I forget I have even entered the competition until I open my inbox and see Congratulations! in bold letters. “You have been selected to be a part of this year’s Royal Wedding Cake Competition at the Ideal Home Show.” Very surprised, yet very happy, I get to work to bring my design to life.
You’ll be able to see my design in the flesh if you book yourself a ticket and get down to the Ideal Home Show in Olympia, Hammersmith. There are lots of other things to see and do there so why not make a day of it!
Beez Cakes will be descending upon Kingston Upon Thames to bring you some beautifully designed cakes. We're really excited to meet all the lovely brides and grooms-to-be, to give them exciting ideas on how to make the perfect statement with their wedding cake. Hope to see you there!
In a beautiful florists located in the heart of Kennington, South London, you'll find a selection of Beez Cakes taking centre stage in the shop window.
When looking for the right wedding cake, you'll find that almost all of them will be adorned with some type of floral arrangement. The reason? Because the two compliment each other so well, and ties your wedding theme together beautifully. Even the most simple cake design can incorporate a floral arrangement. So if you live or work near Windmill Flowers, why not pop by and discuss your wedding or special occasion ideas with myself and/or Mary (Windmill Flowers Owner), or just simply have a browse. Whatever it is, hurry, as the display won't be there long!
So last weekend saw us at the first wedding show to be held in Greenwich at Charlton Athletic, hosted by Diva Wedding Fayres. And it did not disappoint! In the image is our table full of beautiful vintage-inspired cakes and decoration ideas.
There were so many Diva brides-to-be with their Diva grooms-to-be, accompanied by supportive friends and family, it was lovely to see. Although the space was not huge, the atmosphere made up for it. It was warm (quite literally) and friendly. I would definitely encourage those of you planning your wedding to attend a wedding show. There you will find inspiration for your big day, things you might never have thought of, and you also get to enjoy this part of your journey together.
I am a huge advocate in planning ahead, and it's something I actually take pride in. You want your day to be as stress-free as possible so that you can look back on it with joy,
I don't have any more shows planned as yet, but as soon as I do, it will be posted here on the website and social media for you all to see. x

When the customer wants "a cake like that one", it's an insight into their style, theme and personality. But stop for a second...it's your big day, and no other cake should look exactly like yours. By all means have a cake 'in the style of...' but add some flair, and make it your own. Whenever I'm asked to make "a cake like that one", I take inspiration from it and make it into the best version for my customer The result is priceless - happy customers, a great tasting cake and a fabulous design suited to the couple and their theme/event. Obviously there are times when you just fall in love with THE cake, and that's fine too; just something to think about when deciding on what cake you want..
What a show! If any of you were able to attend, I'm sure you'd agree. So much inspiration under one roof, it can be difficult to decide what to do; so here's a simple idea for choosing a wedding cake that's right for you. Take inspiration from your wedding dress or bridesmaid dresses. The colour, detailing and fabric more often than not can be translated into decoration on a cake. For example, the colours showcased on the bridal catwalk were mainly blush pink, ivory, cool pastels and metallic. Add that to your cake. Do you have beading, lace details or embellishments on your dress? Why not have these taken in to the cake design? It's a simple idea, but very effective in achieving a seamless wedding theme.
"I love being creative and all things cake, so it made sense to put the two to work. It's a great feeling to see the joy on my customers faces when they receive my cakes. It makes it all the more special." - Bianca
