As much as I love baking, when I do get some spare time I try to spend it with close friends and family. I enjoy spur of the moment road trips with my husband and two children to beautiful and interesting places in England especially when the weather is favourable. I think I am at my most happiest when the sun is shining, I’m eating great food and surrounded by my favourite people.
I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, which at times include the children getting down and dirty in the kitchen. Painting and drawing is something I have been passionate about from a really young age. I’m just drawn (pun not intended) into my own world where nothing else matters and life is about getting that brushstroke right or expressing a mood with a fusion of colour. I am pretty sure that my passion has rubbed off on my children as they love food and love expressing themselves through creative arts.
I am always striving and looking for ways to improve my cake craft by learning from others and experimenting with different techniques. I have definitely seen the benefit of this as my cakes and sugar flower work have evolved and taken on a life of their own. There is no greater compliment than being asked “are those real flowers?”, or my favourite “ Are you the florist?”
It’s not always easy to step away from my cake business mentally or even physically at times, so making a conscious decision to take the time to engage in the other things that make me happy is a work in progress, but I definitely feel as though I am getting better at it.
If you have any questions you’d like to ask me regarding cake, or anything else, please do not hesitate to drop me a message in the comments below or complete the contact form. I always love to hear from you.
