Look no further because we’ve got you covered in the following article.
If you have searched the internet and found a whole host of cake images you love, save them. Pinterest is great for this as you can collate your images all in one place. Once you have reached your limit and exhausted your search, have a look back at the images you have saved. Is there a pattern emerging as to the theme, style, or colour that you are drawn to? Are your images largely of floral cakes either fresh or sugar, do you like the rustic look of a buttercream cake or are there bold statement colours in the design? Examining these will help you define what your style is.
I often ask customers to send images of designs that inspire them in order to get an insight into their style, personality and what look they’re aiming for. So use the images you have saved to see if there is a clear favourite in the styles of cake you are drawn to. Don’t worry if they appear to be random, because even then, design elements can be mixed and matched in a way that reflects you both.
Let Your Culture Decide
Using different aspects of your culture to determine the design of your cake, will definitely make it special and unique to you. You can take inspiration from a traditional print, fabric, jewellery or colour(s) to turn your cake into a celebration of your heritage and the beautiful fusion it represents.
Pick ’n’ Mix
Often, couples will stick to classic flavours that they know and love, and that their guests will love too. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However if you want to make your cake even MORE special, why not offer your guests some variety by offering different flavours to choose from. Each cake tier can be a contrasting flavour, allowing you to have fun and mix classic flavours with not-so-classic flavours. For you and your guests, it will be a refreshing break from the norm.
Ultimately, it is you that makes your cake special. Whatever design, colour, theme or flavour you choose will be a reflection of you and your likes and there is no getting away from that. Whatever you decide will be fabulous!
